iFree Skype Recorder is a handy tool which enables you to record Skype calls. Since Skype doesn't natively provide such a feature, recording Skype calls can be done only using third-party tools such as this one.
iFree Skype Recorder can record both simple two-way voice conversations or the more complex conferences. Unfortunately, video call recording capabilities are not available with this small tool. On the other hand, if recording only the audio streams from the Skype calls is all that you're interested in, then, iFree Skype Recorder is a great option, as it's also really easy-to-use, intuitive, and straightforward. Even complete beginners should be able to use it without any problem. Furthermore, iFree Skype Recorder can be configured to start recording automatically, as soon as it detects an incoming or outgoing call. Last but not least, automatically playing predefined reply messages when you are away from the computer is possible as well, which means that iFree Skype Recorder can also be used as an answering machine for Skype.
Another potential downside for iFree Skype Recorder is the fact that it can record the Skype calls only to one single audio file format: the ubiquitous MP3. Other audio file formats are not supported. Anyway, it also lets you fully configure the parameters of the output file, like bit rate or sample rate. All the recordings are saved automatically and shown in the “History” window. From there you can also play them and listen to what they contain.
In conclusion, iFree Skype Recorder might have a few drawbacks but it's still good enough to represent a viable solution for your Skype call recording needs, especially since it's also free.
